Post-Candidacy Supervision

For each Ph.D. student who has successfully passed the Ph.D. Candidacy Examination, a post-Candidacy supervision committee consisting of three faculty members will be formed to oversee the student's research progress until the completion of his/her doctoral study.  This committee, which consists of the thesis advisor and two other members recommended by the advisor, is formed when the thesis advisor is selected by the student; this should occur no later than the end of the semester in which the student passes the Ph.D. Candidacy Exam.  Two members of this committee shall be the departmental examiners in the student's Graduate Board Exam.  The committee will evaluate and report the student's performance at the end of each semester in the same way as in course evaluation.  Ideally, the membership of the student's post-QE supervision committee shall remain unchanged until his/her dissertation research is completed; however, it may be reconstituted if necessary.
