The Mathematical Modeling Competition Prize
Each year, an organization known as the Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications sponsors an international mathematical modeling competition. Teams of three or four undergraduate students at institutions all over the world choose a problem to work on for several days and at the end of the period they submit a report of their findings. These reports are then reviewed by judges at the consortium and teams are given various international awards. The Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics encourages Hopkins undergraduates to compete. A departmental committee reviews the submissions by Hopkins teams and the Modeling Prize is given to the best-performing Hopkins team.
